Elected to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha for the first time through By-Election held in May 2018 and again for the second consecutive term in the 16th Punjab Vidhan Sabha in 2022. Inherited Politics from paternal uncle Late S. Darbara Singh, who served as Hon'ble Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha and Governor of Rajasthan. Prior to getting elected in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, remained Secretary of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee and also General Secretary of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. Was elected as member of the Board of Directors of the Jalandhar Central Cooperative bank from 2005 to 2010.During first term, remained member of Questions and References Committee of Punjab Vidhan Sabha in 2018-19 and Member of Privilege, Cooperation and its Allied Activities and Public Accounts Committees of Punjab Vidhan Sabha in 2021-22. Duirng the present term, remained member of the Committee on Privileges and Committee on Paper Laid and Library during the year 2022-23 and presently member of the Committee on Privileges and Committee on Cooperation and Allied Activities of Punjab Vidhan Sabha for the year 2023-24.
