Elected as MLA from Dinanagar Constituency to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha in the year 2002, 2012, 2017 and now again in 2022. Inherited politics from father-in-law Chaudhary Jai Muni, Who was founder M.L.A. of Dinanagar and himself got elected to Punjab Vidhan Sabha in 1967, 1972, 1980 and 1985, Remained Cabinet Minister of State for Higher Education and School Education; and thereafter Cabinet Minister for Transport, Social Security and Women & Child Development and Revenue in the Government of Punjab during my term from 2017 to 2022.

Prior to that, I remained Chairperson of Punjab State Food & Civil Supplies Corporation from 2004-2007; Chairperson Grievances Redressal Committee of District Hoshiarpur, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and Rupnagar; Member of Kandi and Bet Area Advisory Committee of Punjab Government; Chairperson, Public Accounts Committee; Member, Estimates Committee, Questions & References Committee, Library Committee, Committee on Local Bodies and Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes & Backward Classes of Punjab Vidhan Sabha. In the present term, remained member of the Committee on Welfare of SC, ST & BCs, Committee on Privileges during the year 2022-23 and presently, member of Committee on Privileges and Committee on Public Undertakings of Punjab Vidhan Sabha for the year 2023-24.
